You'll find no shortage of things to do in the DC area! Check out the below recommendations with a personal touch from Sonia and Zach.
Pentagon City, Arlington: This is the neighborhood where we live and love for its walkability, metro accessibility (either Crystal City or Pentagon City stops), and plethora of things to do. Highlights include the Fashion Centre Mall and Pentagon Row, an outdoor plaza with local restaurants and sometimes even performances. Grab a quick bite from Origin's or dessert from Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream. Visit the champagne bar, Beauty, or Irish pub McNamara's, right around the corner from Zach and Sonia's place. Nearby, take a stroll down Long Bridge Park while viewing the Washington Monument and Potomac River. Go to Gravelly Point Park to watch the planes take off right overhead. Even consider dropping by the local Costco, which we walk to weekly for our groceries.
Smithsonians: World-class free museums. We especially like the Air & Space Museum and the Postal Museum. Make sure to reserve timed-entry tickets in advance for more popular museums like the African American and Air & Space museums.
Georgetown: a fun historic neighborhood to walk around with shops and restaurants. Stop by our favorite haunts: sip on a latte from Grace Street Coffee or sit on an Eames chair in the Design Within Reach store.
The DC Wharf: We once ate at Kirwan's the same day that bollywood actress Preity Zinta posted a video at the exact same spot on the wharf.
Old Town Alexandria: Do an escape room here (we have been to multiple on King St) or stroll down to the waterfront, where we took our engagement pictures.
Food: Some of our favorite places to eat are Rasika, Jaipur, Palette 22, Busboys and Poets. If you're in the mood for fine dining, you may want to check out Rooster & Owl or Rose's Luxury which we have gone to for special occasions.
